Amnesty International Philippines, a subsidiary of Amnesty International, is a not-for-profit organization in the Philippines. It was officially registered in 1987, and shortly after, began to accept volunteers and donors from all nooks and cranny of the country.

What started as a group of 4 people, has now grown to house nearly 30,000 members and supporters nationwide.

Amnesty International Philippines have a presence in 4 key areas in the country. These include the National Capital Region, Visayas, Mindanao, and Luzon.

The late 90s and the early 2000s saw Amnesty Philippines’ becoming aggressively involved in campaigns and movements, with the aim to end the abuse of human rights.

This success was made possible by youth involvement, human rights education, and international solidarity.

Amnesty International, the parent organization of Amnesty Philippines has established a presence in over 150 countries and territories worldwide.

As with most, IF, not all non-governmental organizations. Amnesty Philippines is independent of any economic interest, political ideology, government, or religion. Funding primarily comes from public donations and membership.

Amnesty Philippines’ aim is for every person to enjoy all the rights in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. In addition, the organization is also a signatory to various international human rights treaties and agreements.
