The Sisters in Islam is a non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting the rights and privileges of Muslim women in Malaysia.

Women’s rights and children’s rights are being violated regularly with the legalization of child marriages, female genital mutilation, the presence of child abuse, and many other things among Muslim women.

The Sisters in Islam is an NGO that is putting its feet on the ground to protect the original intents of marriage and polygamy as the Holy Quran spells out (SURAH AH-NUUM 30: 21)

Statistically speaking, 87 percent of children attested to the negative emotional impact polygamous marriages left on them as many of the men did not fulfill their obligations to their first wives and children.

They intentionally reduced their financial contribution to their children and could not fulfill some important demands of their wives which are the pivot of a successful marriage.

While 70 percent of men entered into marriage on grounds of attraction to women and most of the time the Sharia courts did not request financial and health documents from these men.

Many women are not even allowed to testify in court about how these obligations are not met and many times their well-being is taken for granted.

Being a part of a community goes a long way to protect the weak and help reduce this anomaly.
